Negative Space's Demo is live!
After 6 months of development, the demo for Negative Space is officially live on itch!
Given this is my first commercial release, getting feedback early and often has been incredibly important. In the past, when I've designed a game, I would work on creating deep systems and what I thought were interesting mechanics (in a vacuum) and then 6 months later after I'd have my first playtesters give it a shot, they would shoot it full of holes. Unfortunately, I'd committed so much time to every system, the amount of effort to change course would feel too overwhelming and the project would get scrapped. Or as I'd end up reframing this for my own sanity - I'd shelf another prototype.
With Negative Space, I went into the process differently. After only a few weeks of development, I started having playtesters give feedback and remained as neutral as possible when receiving it. No idea I'd come up with was too precious to be changed in service of creating a better game. The result has turned into this demo which I believe is a great vertical slice to show what this game has to offer.
Because the game still has time to cook until the final release, I'm still in the mindset of taking on feedback and integrating it into what will be the official game so I'm open to any and all feedback and critiques! With that being said, please enjoy the demo!
